Have you recently tried to paste text from Word into a Hub Pages text capsule? Chances are it looked like a big hot mess and you couldn’t figure out how to make it look right again.

When I first joined Hub Pages, the same thing happened to me. I was content with the way Squidoo allowed me to cut and paste from Word, but I quickly realized I wasn’t in Kansas anymore with HP. Things were different. I got quite frustrated clicking the paragraph button a million times until it finally looked right.

Then I learned a better way to do it from my mentor. Use NotePad! It’s an extra step, which bugs me, but it works. So I write in Word, copy to NotePad, and then paste from Notepad so it looks perfect! Look at the differences here:

Notice on the top one, the text goes all over to the right of the screen, past the tags! It makes it hard to continue editing. But when you paste from Word to NotePad (or heck, even write in NotePad if you like it - I personally can’t stand it), it looks cleaner and perfect for publishing!

There are a couple of different types of affiliate links for HubPages.

You can refer someone to sign up at hubpages and get 10% of the Ad impressions on their hubs, or you can refer someone to an existing hub using your link and get between 9% and 12% of the Ads shown on that hub (even if the hub has nothing to do with you).

So here we go!

1. If you want to send a link to a friend for them to signup to HubPages, your link will look a bit like this: http://hubpages.com/_yourtracker/user/new/

See where I’ve put yourtracker in bold? You will replace that with… your tracker! So how do you create your tracker? You go here: http://hubpages.com/my/trackers

You will see one default tracker there, and it will look something like this: 1eiajarudi6km. Just a meaningless code. If you click the ‘Create New Tracker’ link just above the table you will be able to add your own more meaningful tracker. I created registerhp as my tracker. So in this case, my HubPages signup affiliate link will look like this: http://hubpages.com/_registerhp/user/new/. So just add your own tracker into the link instead, and away you go!

2. The second type of HubPages affiliate link is the one you use to send visitors to a particular hub. The hub we will use for this example will be one I made about Valentine’s day gift ideas. The link for the hub is http://hubpages.com/hub/romantic-ideas-for-valentines-day. So what if you wanted to send visitors to that hub and get paid for it, you would do exactly the same as before. You just add _yourtracker to the link. Like this: http://hubpages.com/_yourtracker/hub/romantic-ideas-for-valentines-day

So just how powerful is a Hub Page?  I took on the task of building Hub Pages for many of my customers just to help me get acquainted with it.  Here’s an email we got today:

“Nearly fainted yesterday evening when the first Hub you did was on the first page of Google [edit: for her primary keyword which I won't divulge here] have a look and see if its still there.

My niche is competitive to say the least. Yet my hub appeared on the first page in google in less than 1 week actually no 4/5 (days) and there were over 1.4 million other pages showing this phrase.

Hub Pages is a social network where you can create your own pages and earn revenue from them.  Everyone can use it - it doesn’t matter what niche you’re in.

Some people compare it to Squidoo, but there are some differences between the two sites. Most people have a preference for one over the other, but if you’re using Hub Pages to rank well in the Google search engine results pages, you want to hit up both sites.

On Hub Pages, you’re going to get a share in the revenue a bit differently than on Squidoo. While Squidoo pays you themselves, using a co-op system, Hub Pages prefers to split the traffic.

So 60% of the visitors that come to your Hubs will see your AdSense ads and Amazon and eBay links, and the other 40% sees the site’s IDs.  That way you’re paid directly by Google, Amazon, and eBay - not Hub Pages.

You can create a Hub about cell phone covers, for example, and be indexed and receiving traffic to funnel to your affiliate offers in under 12 hours if you create it correctly!  Hub Pages may or may not be your favorite social network, but it’s definitely one that you won’t want to neglect if you’re hoping to make money on the Internet.
